Here’s a selfie with Jamie Kornegay, owner of TurnRow Books in Greenwood, MS. I was there to sign books yesterday.
Jamie’s first novel, “Soil,” is coming out in Fall 2014. It sounds awfully good. Look for it.
Greenwood, by the way, was the stand-in for Jackson, MS, in the movie The Help. Jamie and family appeared in some of the scenes when the movie was filming there.
The day before that I stopped by the Alabama Booksmith in Birmingham to sign books for Jake Reiss. A special shop: all the books on display and for sale are signed by the authors. Proud to have mine there.

Also while in Birmingham, I visited Jim Reed Books. I was tipped off to the shop by a friend, and it was a great tip. Jim–who’s had an astounding career as a writer, educator, radio and TV broadcaster, etc., etc.–has been dealing used books and other things in downtown Birmingham since the 1980s.
